  • RAC

Ever since its foundation in 1897, the RAC has been consistently at the forefront of developing motoring services - from introducing uniformed patrols in 1901 and roadside emergency telephone boxes in 1912 right through to the present day when we boast what we believe to be the world's most advanced computer systems to deal with calls for roadside assistance.

In 2001 the RAC designed, developed and launched a retractable rapid deployment trailer which is stored in the back of all its patrol vans. Keeping pace with modern vehicles, which are becoming increasingly complex, all RAC patrols are equipped with the latest mobile diagnostic equipment – RAC Scan+ – which enables them to quickly identify faults that would otherwise have to be dealt with by a garage. A fleet of fuel patrols was launched in 2010 to help people who mistakenly put the wrong fuel in their vehicles.

In 2014 the RAC rolled out a pioneering universal spare wheel designed to speed up the fix time and minimise inconvenience for members who experience a puncture without having a spare. In addition, a fleet of tyre vans was also introduced to complement the RAC’s experienced patrols who have an excellent record of fixing the majority of punctures at the roadside or temporarily fitting the universal wheel.

And, as standard, every RAC van carries more than 500 parts and tools which patrols use to get members’ vehicles going again as quickly as possible. The RAC is very proud of its record of repairing four out of five vehicles at the roadside.

  • Trust a Trader

TrustATrader is the UK's trusted online trade directory, for which we must thank both the public for their strong support of our service, and our great traders who prove that there is an alternative to the 'cowboys'.

You know how frustrating it is to have to use a trader directly out of the paper or a directory without getting recommendations first. But if an emergency occurred, say in the middle of the night or at the weekend, then you simply had no choice in the matter.

If work isn't carried out to your satisfaction, the whole experience can leave a bitter taste in your mouth, not to mention a hole in your pocket.

Wouldn't it be great if there was a website that could put you in touch with local, reliable tradesmen whose work had been checked out - a website that was as good as a personal recommendation? That's what we thought too. So, we made it our mission to create the Web's most trusted online directory when looking for tradesmen - not just for emergency 'out of hours' jobs but for any job, anytime. Welcome to TrustATrader.

  • Vehicle Damage Repair Kitemark

For over 10 years, the BSI Kitemark for Vehicle Damage Repair has been helping repairers ‘prove’ themselves to motorists and work providers. Originally based at first on the publicly available specification PAS 125, and from 2014, on the full British standard BS 10125, it’s only given to repairers who have the technical competence and the management systems and procedures to operate and perform to the highest standards.

Consistency and quality are key to its credibility. A Kitemark is never awarded ‘for life’: BSI inspectors regularly return to ensure standards are being maintained and will revoke the licence to use the symbol if they uncover significant non-conformities and a client is unwilling to put things right.
